A pad-mount (or pedestal-mount) swing gate opener is the workhorse for residential and light commercial driveways: reliable motors, proper geometry to the gate, and hardware that isn’t fighting mud and grass every season. Pedestal vs poured pad
Galvanized pedestal in concrete is what we use most. It lets us set the exact height so the arm hits the gate in the right place, and it keeps the operator up out of standing water and lawn growth so the insides stay dry.
Poured concrete pad is the cleaner look when you want the opener sitting low and finished — still rock-solid, just more “built in.”
Either way: geometry first. Pretty concrete with a bad hinge-to-operator relationship is an expensive repair later.

Why placement is everything
Where the motor sits relative to the gate is the critical part of the install. Get it wrong and the opener “works” while quietly destroying hinges, arms, and boards. Fixing a bad layout often costs more than doing it right the first time. We don’t “make it work” with a stretched arm and hope — we set the operator so the gate swings in its natural arc with the least stress.
